PHUKET TENS WINNERS AT IRB AWARDS
Pat Cotter, organiser of the Phuket International Tens and Roelein Muller of the Asia Centre Foundation have won the prestigious International Rugby Board 'SPIRIT OF RUGBY' Award for 2008.
Pat and Roeliein were flown over the UK by the IRB, taken to the England v South Africa game and then on Sunday attended the gala dinner at Old Billingsgate in London where Shane Williams received the Player of The Year Award, and the New Zealand All Blacks won Team Of The Year.
We have now created a site especially to handle the Phuket Tens tournament. It can be found at the above address.
It is still under construction but eventually all tens related items will be moved over to the new site.
The Kriel roosters are the winners of the 12th International Phuket Tens sponsored by Overgaard. They beat the ever present Moorabbin Rams 31-0 in the final, lead by their playmaker Vicky who won player of the tournament. Consolation for the Rams however came when they successfully defended their Coffin Dodgers title with a 17-10 overtime win

WEASEL CUP RETURNS TO PHUKET
The old phrase a game of two halves was never more true than when used to describe this years eagerly awaited Weasel Cup game between the Old Foes from Phuket and Bangkok. After years of disappointment, Phuket literally held on to a shaky 19-14 win. The game looked over to some when Phuket lead 19-0 at half time after a first half of rugby that had the home crowd on it's feet. However the bangers are made of stern stuff and under new Club Captain Andrew Tatum turned the screws and came a dropped pass away from turning the game completely on it's head.

BANGERS SNEAK BY IN SNOOZEFEST
Playing a brand of rugby that only their mother could love (that's assuming their mother is English) the Bangers deservedly defeated the local favourite Phuket Viagrabonds by 19-5. Intentions were well disguised by the selection of an exciting backline that featured Irish, Kiwi, a Scot and even a Belgian, however, were spitefully denied the ball by a pack of forwards lead by Andy Campbell and Le Capitaine, Jean Francois Klentzi interested in only stuffing it up their jumper. The Viagrabonds started brightly, intent on playing a running game however eyelids were seen to droop badly as half time neared without the ball being seen by crowd nor players.
That said, if your gonna sleep on the job rewards will not be forthcoming and that is exactly what happened when the ball appeared from nowhere heading towards the Viagrabonds line. No camera man was awake to record this incident. From there on the Viagrabonds were up against the odds as the huge Bangers pack lumbered around the park, playing stomach, ball, stomach, ball. It was hard even from the scrum half position to tell which was which.
Ah well, the Viagrabonds cannot complain at least our club won't be charging our backs admission fee next year. Talking of next year, already we look forward to seeing the Bangers in Phuket for what is everybody's game of the year.
Bangers we salute you, but remember, many of you wanna play for us in your hearts.
